Claude AI Login, Download & App Guide: Web, Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone & Android

Logging into Claude AI takes one of two routes: Continue with Google, or Continue with email, which sends a secure link from mail.anthropic.com that signs you in on the same device or hands you a verification code when you requested it somewhere else. The account you create works identically on claude.ai, the desktop app and the phone apps, with conversations, memory and preferences syncing between them. Downloads live on claude.com/download: macOS 11 or newer, Windows 10 or newer including an arm64 build, a beta Linux build for Ubuntu and Debian on x64 and arm64, plus ChromeOS, iPhone and Android. Chat is available on the Free plan while Claude Code and Cowork require a paid tier. On certification, Anthropic runs no individual Claude exam โ€” training comes from Claude Academy and Skilljar courses, while the certificates attached to Claude itself are compliance credentials such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001.

Quick Answer: Claude AI Login and Download

To log in, open claude.ai in a browser or launch the Claude desktop or mobile app and pick Continue with Google or Continue with email. The Google route opens a normal Google sign-in prompt; the email route sends a secure login link that authenticates the device you requested from, or shows a verification code when you click it on another device. To download, go to claude.com/download and choose your platform โ€” macOS, Windows, Windows arm64, Linux, ChromeOS, iPhone or Android โ€” then install and sign in with the same account. Nothing about logging in or installing costs money: the apps are free on the Free plan, though Claude Code and Cowork inside the desktop app need Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise.

Claude AI Login on the Web

The web login sits at claude.ai and is the same screen you meet on desktop and mobile. You get three choices: Continue with Google, Continue with email, and, for organisation accounts, Continue with SSO. The Google path opens a modal where you enter your Google address and password, and on success you land in your Claude account with no further step. The email path is passwordless โ€” you type your address, receive a message with the subject Secure link to log in to Claude.ai, and click through. Because there is no password to forget, this route is also the fallback when Google sign-in misbehaves; you can disconnect the Google link from your Google account's connected-apps page and rely on email links alone.

Google and Email Authentication, Step by Step

Same-device sign-in is the simple case: request the email, click the link, and you are in. Cross-device sign-in adds one hop โ€” request on your laptop, open the link on your phone, and the email instead shows a Sign in with Claude.ai link that generates a verification code; type that code back on the laptop to finish. If the message never arrives, check spam and quarantined mail, whitelist mail.anthropic.com, and note that business, government and .edu addresses often need an IT exception. Apple private relay addresses work through the same email path. Organisation accounts with single sign-on get an extra Continue with SSO button on the login screen, which is how Team and Enterprise users usually authenticate through their own identity provider.

Claude AI Download: Desktop App

Anthropic publishes a single download page for every desktop build, and the installers are signed and platform-native. Chat works on the Free plan inside the desktop app, while Claude Code and Cowork โ€” the agent surfaces that share the app's Chat, Cowork and Code tabs โ€” require a paid plan. Desktop also unlocks what the browser cannot reach: a global quick-entry hotkey, local file and application access, desktop extensions, and pairing with your phone so a task started on mobile can continue at your desk. Large organisations can deploy it centrally using MSIX installers on Windows and PKG installers on macOS, with automatic single sign-on on managed devices and controlled version rollouts.

Windows, Mac and Linux Requirements

Windows needs version ten or newer, and there is a separate arm64 installer for Windows on Arm; the Code tab additionally requires Git for Windows, after which the app must be restarted. Mac needs macOS eleven, Big Sur or later, with a universal build covering both Intel and Apple Silicon. Linux is the newest and least settled of the three: it is published as a beta covering Ubuntu twenty-two-oh-four LTS or newer and Debian twelve or newer on both x64 and arm64, installed from Anthropic's apt repository so updates arrive through your normal package manager rather than through the app. Chat, Claude Code and Cowork are all present on Linux at launch; Computer Use and dictation are not yet available there, and the quick-entry hotkey needs X11 or a desktop that exposes the global-shortcuts portal.

Claude on iPhone and Android

Both phone apps are distributed through the official stores โ€” the App Store for iPhone and Google Play for Android โ€” and both are free to install on any plan. Signing in uses exactly the same Google or email flow as the desktop app, and your conversations, projects, memory and preferences follow your account to the phone. Mobile adds device-specific connectors such as Maps and messaging, and it pairs with the desktop app so you can hand a task from your phone to a desktop session. One billing note: purchases made through Apple or Google app-store billing can be priced differently from purchases made on the web, which is why our pricing guide lists app-store pricing as its own line.

Claude App vs Web: Which to Use

Use the web when you are on a shared or locked-down machine and want nothing installed โ€” it runs in any modern browser and carries the same account. Use the desktop app when you want Claude to reach your machine: quick entry from any application, dragging files and screenshots straight into a conversation, local extensions, and the Cowork and Code workspaces. Use the phone apps when you are away from a desk, and pair them with the desktop app so work can move between them. Nothing is siloed โ€” conversations, memory and preferences are the same on all three, so the choice is about capability rather than about your data.

Claude Certification, and What It Is Not

There is no Anthropic-administered Claude AI certification for individuals โ€” no exam, no credential, no badge you can buy that qualifies you to use Claude. Training is real but it is coursework: Claude Academy at academy.claude.com publishes free courses from Anthropic's education team covering AI fluency and product skills, and Anthropic's Skilljar catalogue issues certificates of completion for courses such as Claude on Google Cloud. A separate Anthropic Partner Academy runs certifications for channel partners, and access to it requires validated partner status. Watch out for third-party sites using the Claude Academy name โ€” at least one prominent one states on its own pages that it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Anthropic. When someone advertises a Claude certification, check whether they mean a course completion, a partner credential, or a compliance audit.

Anthropic Compliance Certifications

The certificates that do attach to Claude are organisational compliance credentials, and they belong to Anthropic rather than to you. Anthropic's help centre lists SOC 2 Type I and Type II, ISO 27001:2022 for information security management, ISO/IEC 42001:2023 for AI management systems, and a HIPAA-ready configuration available under a business associate agreement. The public Trust Center additionally publishes CSA STAR, NIST 800-171 attestation material, UK Cyber Essentials, and the FedRAMP High authorisation held by Claude for Government. Those documents are what a security reviewer asks for during procurement; none of them is a qualification for an individual user, and none of them is something you study for.

Limitations and Assumptions

Platform availability moves faster than articles do. Linux desktop is explicitly beta, with Computer Use and dictation still missing and wider distribution support promised later; Windows on Arm and ChromeOS builds are listed alongside the mainstream installers; and app-store billing terms differ by region. We verified login methods, system requirements and certification sources against Anthropic's help centre, download page and Trust Center on the date shown below. If a requirement has changed since then, the official download page and the help centre are the authoritative pair.
